Democracy is now dead in our beloved country - Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has expressed that Democracy is dead in Nigeria under the initiative of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He was responding to the recently concluded Osun State governorship election which the All Progressives Congress (APC) won.

Fayose denounced the direct of the rerun decision.

In an announcement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, he rejected the result of the supplementary poll in which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) proclaimed APC's Gboyega Oyetola the won.

Oyetola surveyed 255,505 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate (PDP), Ademola Adeleke, surveyed 255,023 votes.

Fayose stated, "With the show of disgrace that occurred in last Saturday's Osun state governorship race and the Thursday rerun, specifically, there is no other decision to make than democracy is currently dead in our country

"We are in basic occasions. The Osun strengthening race was only a rehash of what occurred in Ekiti State on July fourteenth. What's more, tragically that, once more, the desire of the general population has been distorted.

"It was evident even to the visually impaired that the Osun decision, similar to the case with Ekiti, was a challenge between the Peoples Democratic Party and the security organizations directed by a traded off Independent National Electoral Commission.
“Therefore, we want to believe that conscionable Nigerians and the survival of this country as a whole are at the mercy of God and of the judiciary. And if the judiciary fails to rise up to the occasion, Nigerians will be among men the most miserable”

The governor commended Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke for his impressive showing

“You did not lose but your mandate has only been stolen,” he said." he said.
